Pin Cushion

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today and I've created a pin cushion using some beautiful fabrics from LoveMyFabrics.

Begin by coloring the container with Clearsnap Spritzers in colors to match your fabric.
Place a Styrofoam ball in the container and surround it with batting.

Place the fabric in the container.

It's just that simple - no sewing or gluing is necessary (unless you want to).  Plus, when you tire of the fabric, simply remove it and replace it with new fabric so your pin cushion will always look new and beautiful.

Dream Catcher

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today and I've got lots of fabric scraps.  Don't you?  What do you do with them?  I'm a hoarder.  I hate to throw anything away so I am always looking for ways to use scraps whether they be fabric or paper!

I came up with a dream catcher that uses strips of fabric of any size and length.  I've simply tied them around an empty ribbon spool.

 

I tore up my left over fabrics into a variety of widths.  I had a variety of lengths so I left them all different sizes.

 

For the hanger, I tied 3 additional strips to the ribbon spool, gathered them at the top and created a loop.

This is a great way to use scraps.  What will you do with your scraps?

Easy Fabric Bows

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today and I've been creating bows.

Do you like bows?  Well, I have found an easy way to create perfect bows of all sizes just by using the Bow-Easy and beautiful fabrics from LoveMyFabrics.

 

I have always had trouble making bows, but I have found the Bow-Easy makes it so easy to create a variety of sized bows.  Just use strips of fabric and even your scraps.

 

 

 

Using the Bow-Easy, you can tear strips of ribbon of any width and create the perfect bow.

You can make an assortment of different sized bows with the Bow-Easy. 

 

 

Just tear your fabric and wrap around the Bow-Easy creating a nice variety that can be used on cards, gifts and anything else you desire.

 

If you have left over fabric, why not consider making bows.

Love My Fabrics Mini Album

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today and I love creating mini albums. 

Have you seen all the fabric that is available from LoveMyFabrics?   Each pack contains 3 different fabrics.

I love to create mini albums for all kinds of projects.  

Do you realize just how easy it is to add fabric to chipboard to create covers for your albums?  Fabric gives the albums some fun dimension and look wonderful.  Just run a line of adhesive along the edges and place the fabric on top.

 

Cut the corners on a slight angle so that you can easily fold the fabric to the inside.  Then add cardstock (or different fabric) to cover the edges. 

 

 

 

Now that the covers are done, wrap ribbon around the front cover and add pattern paper on top.  Journal was spelled out with stickers and added to the panel

 

 

Use this book for anything you want to journal about - it's small enough to fit in your go-to bag so you have it with you at all times.

Crocheted Purse

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today. 

I love to crochet and made this little crocheted purse.

 

I needed to add a lining so I chose fabric from Lovemyfabrics and stitched together a lining.

 

 

 

I didn't need much - less than 1/4 yard.  I sewed the top edges for a finished look and stitched together the sides.

 

Now that it's lined, this crocheted purse can hold lots of items for that special night out.

I Miss You

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today.  Check out the wonderful fabrics I received.  Beautiful fabrics and beautifully packaged too!

I love to create cards and it was fun incorporating fabric into my card making.

I matched the fabric with cardstock, then purposely frayed the fabric before adhering it to the cardstock using adhesive.  Easy - no sewing required!

The right side of the cardstock was then embossed before I added die cut ovals.  The cute little gal was colored with Copic Markers and also die cut.  I added her to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

 

Using fabric adds a fun new element to my card making.

It holds 58 spools of thread, 59 if you count the one on top.

Introducing Steph Ackerman

Hi everyone.   My name is Steph Ackerman and I am so excited to be a part of the Love My Fabrics Creative Team.   I live on Long Island (New York) with my husband of 34 years and our 19 year old son. 

I have been creating in some form since I was a child- everything from sewing to crochet to paper crafts and more.  My great grandmother gave me my first sewing machine and I started making my own clothes in my early teens.  While I no longer make clothes, I add fabric to my paper crafting projects and often sew on my paper projects.  

My passion is card making and mixed media projects, but I have my hands in a lot of different areas!!!  I love the creative process and can be found daily in my craft room working on a variety of projects. 

This is a sample of one of my cards using inks and embossing.

I love incorporating a wide variety of elements in my projects and I can't wait to start working with the gorgeous fabrics from Love My Fabrics.
